News Story: ORANGE John L. "Scabby" Jones CHAPEL HILL -- Mr. John L. "Scabby" Jones was born May 13, 1943 in Orange County to the late Eric A. Jones, Sr. and Real D. Jones, and departed this life on Friday, February 4, 2011 at UNC Hospitals. He leaves to cherish his memories, wife Julia F. Jones; daughters, Phoebe and Koketia Jones and granddaughter, Makayla Jones. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 8, 2011, 12 noon, at First Baptist Church, Chapel Hill with Dr. J.R. Manley officiating. Burial will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday, February 8, 2011 at the church prior to the funeral. Arrangements by Jones Funeral Home.
